The Road
The Road (2006)
By Cormac McCarthy
I don’t know that a book can be more perfectly written than ‘The Road’. McCarthy’s stark prose perfectly fits the post-apocalyptic storyline – I swear, he must have written The Road then just ripped out everything but the bones of the story, it’s so tight and economical. His prose is poetic and brutal and beautiful and stark – all these things, all a the same time. I’ve not been able to get into all of his stuff, but The Road works on every level for me.
