Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

Directed by Michel Gondry

Perfect from start to finish. Perfect in ways you don’t even realise till you’ve seen the ending. Gondry’s attention to detail is so good – like the Disney Pixar films, it’s that attention to detail, from background to foreground, that pushes them from good to great. All the elements and scenes come together so well, all the little details, the intelligent reminders, the pieces all falling into place. I don’t think there’ ever be another vehicle that’s a more perfect fit for Gondry’s imagination (though the excellent ‘The Science of Sleep’ comes a close second).
